A good editor improves writing....

....but great editing expands your horizons.

There are a lot of reasons why articles or commentaries don’t sell. Dangling participles or not having absolutely perfect grammar are not among them.

In fact, if what you are looking for is an editor to be a grammar Nazi, I’m not a good fit. Nearly anyone can fix ordinary rules of the English language in a piece of writing.

What I bring to the table is different:

  • An inside view of what editors look for based on 30-plus years of editing.
  • An understanding of the most important elements of selling your work: timing, the all-important angle of the story, word length and how to shape a news peg that will excite an editor.
  • How to “bookend” a story and how to write a great lead that will grab the reader.
